Officer, civilian injured in Wissinoming crash

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia police say an officer and civilian were injured when a dirt bike struck a police cruiser in Wissinoming.

It happened shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.

According to police, while making a left turn onto Howell St. from Torresdale Ave. the police cruiser was struck by a dirt bike that was traveling northbound on Torresdale Ave at a high rate of speed.

One officer was injured and transported to Jeanes. The officer is expected to be treated an released. The operator of the dirt bike was transported to Frankford-Torresdale Hospital and placed in critical condition.

Police are still investigating.
