Officials: Wasps sting local kids at day camp

It was a chaotic scene at Rockwood Park and Museum in North Wilmington just before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

SkyFOX was overhead as paramedics and New Castle County officials rushed to treat 12 summer campers stung by wasps while on a picnic trip. The children were part of a group of 200 New Castle county campers between the ages of 7 and 12.

The children taken to the hospital are allergic to wasps and officials weren't taking any chances. The three children taken to the hospital were treated and released.

The camp says their next field trip is Friday and they'll be going for ice cream this time.
