Palm Springs bombing suspect identified: 'Intentional act of terrorism'

The man who set off an explosion at a Palm Springs, California, fertility clinic Saturday is the man suspected to have died in the bombing that injured four other people and damaged nearby businesses.

Authorities are calling it an intentional act of terrorism: The person believed responsible for the attack posted rambling online writings before the explosion, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.

Who is the Palm Springs bombing suspect?

What we know:

Authorities identified the suspect in the explosion at a Palm Springs, California, fertility clinic as Guy Edward Bartkus, 25, of Twentynine Palms.

The suspect posted writings online and attempted to record the explosion, though authorities said the video failed to upload online, an unnamed official told AP.

The blast gutted the single-story American Reproductive Centers clinic in upscale Palm Springs, though a doctor told the Associated Press its staff were safe.

What they're saying:

Akil Davis, the head of the FBI’s Los Angeles field office, said that all embryos at the facility were saved.

"Good guys one, bad guys zero," Davis said. "Make no mistake: This is an intentional act of terrorism."

"Thank God today happened to be a day that we have no patients," Dr. Maher Abdallah, who leads the clinic, told the AP in a phone interview.
