PennDOT Reopens Interstate 76 West in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, Pa. - PennDOT announced they have reopened Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) west between Interstate 95 and U.S. 1 north in Philadelphia at 8:08 p.m. Sunday night..

The westbound expressway was closed Friday night, September 25, to maintain public safety and best serve the travel demands for moving law enforcement and emergency vehicles through the area during the historic visit of Pope Francis to the City of Philadelphia.

Entrances at 26 th Street and from the Walt Whitman bridge were the first sections to reopen for through traffic. Other entrance and exit ramps along I-76 west are still closed and will reopen when conditions are safe for vehicular and pedestrian travel, according to PennDOT.
