Philadelphia offering free parking on Saturdays for holiday season

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - The Philadelphia Parking Authority is spreading some holiday cheer.

Each Saturday between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day, metered and kiosk parking will be free in Philadelphia from 11 a.m. until midnight.

"'Tis the season to be jolly," the PPA said in a statement. "And to take advantage of the parking specials we offer during the holiday season."

PPA parking garages in Center City will also offer an $8 flat rate charge for Saturday parking.

The PPA says it wants parking to be the least of shoppers' worries as they spend time at local businesses this holiday season.
