Philadelphia officer hurt in crash with bread truck
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF/AP) - A Philadelphia police officer is in stable condition after her police car was hit by a bakery truck while she was responding to a call.
Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told FOX 29's David Kinchen the officer was going to help other officers catch an assault suspect at 3rd and South Street, early Tuesday. She was heading eastbound on South when the truck crashed into the side of her patrol car near 11th Street.
Small said the 45-year-old was bleeding from the mouth and had some pain to her left side. But she was walking and talking at the hospital.
Her name has not been released. The driver of bread truck was not hurt. It's not clear who was at fault.
That assault suspect at 3rd and South allegedly hurt two men. One was punched and knocked unconscious. The other had facial injuries.
Small said one of the victims pointed out the attacker, who then ran away. That person was later arrested.
