Philadelphia schools to close early Friday due to excessive heat

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - All School District of Philadelphia schools will dismiss students at 12:00 noon Friday due to excessive heat.

According to a press release, the decision was made due to high temperatures forecasted for today.

In addition, all after-school activities including all athletic programs and professional development classes scheduled for Friday will be cancelled as well.

All district early childhood centers will remain open as per their regular schedule as well as administrative offices.

Following the School District of Philadelphia's decision, Archdiocesan high schools and Catholic elementary schools in Philadelphia will close at noon as well.
