Pilot ID'd in Plane Crash Near Atlantic City

Atlantic City, NJ-(WTXF)-A single-engine Mooney M20 aircraft reportedly crashed into the Atlantic Ocean about 7 miles southeast of Atlantic City, New Jersey, according to the FAA.

The incident happened around 2:45 p.m. Thursday. The FAA says the aircraft departed from Gaylord, Michigan, and was headed to the Atlantic City International Airport. The Coast Guard is aiding the search effort. The Coast Guard confirmed the pilot's ID asMichael Moir of Gaylord, Michigan.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
