Police capture suspect in shooting of Camden County Officer

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Police say they've captured the man suspected of shooting a Camden County police officer earlier this week.

Camden County Police spokesman Michael Daniels says 21-year-old Victor Bennett, of Camden, was apprehended Friday afternoon on the property of the 200 block of Haddon Avenue in Collingswood. Bennett had been identified as a suspect earlier Friday.

Officer Prince Reed was struck in the arm around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on Kenwood Avenue in Camden's Parkside neighborhood after someone opened fire on his vehicle. According to The Courier-Post (http://on.cpsj.com/1eqCuY4 ), Reed was on a special violence detail in an unmarked car, not in uniform.

Reed was treated at Cooper University Hospital and was released on Thursday.

Bennett is being held on $1 million bail. Charges are pending.
