Police: Child playing with lighter allegedly started 3-alarm fire in Clifton Heights
CLIFTON HEIGHTS, PA (WTXF) - Seven people were taken to local hospitals following a three-alarm fire at a Clifton Heights apartment building.
The fire broke out Monday morning just before 8:30 a.m. on the 300 block of North Sycamore Avenue at Cliff Park Apartments.
According to police, a child playing with a lighter allegedly started the fire.
Officials say four residents were hurt along with an officer and two firefighter. All are expected to be OK.
Most apartment dwellers here are West African immigrants. Many spent the day recovering and regrouping at a Red Cross center nearby.
