Police: Cops sieze $1 million in drugs in Darby Township

Darby Twp (WTXF) Darby Township police say what started out as a hunt for armed burglars, wound up leading police a large drug bust.

It happened Wednesday, November 9th. Darby Township Police say they received a call for an armed robbery at a business on the 700-900 blocks of Calcon Hook Road. When Officers arrived at the scene, the offenders were already gone.

While watching surveillance video trying to find evidence, police found another robbery at the same location that had not been reported.

This investigation led to the discovery of a large scale, multi-state narcotics trafficking operation, according to police.

Detective Cooper partnered with Federal Drug Enforcement Agents, FBI Agents ant DEA Task Force Officers. Authorities say they conducted a full investigation that so far has led to the seizure of 2 kilograms of cocaine, 125 pounds of high grade marijuana and 153 pounds of high grade organic marijuana. Combined, the drugs seized have an estimated total street value of 1 million dollars, according to police.

Authorities say Donald Coote has been arrested at this time and held on a $400,000 bail, but the investigation is still on-going.
