Police identify driver killed in NJ school bus crash

New Jersey State Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a school bus and an SUV in Fairfield Township, New Jersey.

The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on East Commerce Street.

Police have identified the driver of the SUV who was killed in the crash, as 43-year-old Larry Waller of Bridgeton, New Jersey.

Police say Waller's vehicle crossed into the opposite lane, striking the bus and causing it to overturn.

The was occupied at the time of the crash, and four students aged 11, 14, 15, and 17, were taken to Inspira Medical Center with minor injuries.

Vera Cole, 82, of Fairfield, was also on the bus and was transported to Cooper Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

State Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
