Police: Lewd acts in Medford and Evesham may be connected
NEW JERSEY (WTXF) - Police say lewd acts in Medford and Evesham may be connected.
"She's a little shaken up. She is," said Stephen Rush about the suspicious vehicle his 14-year old daughter and her friend saw while walking in their Evesham neighborhood.
"The only reason she took notice is it was a very cold day and the gentleman driving the car had no shirt on," he said. But it wasn't just a shirt the man was missing when he got out of the driver's side of the jeep.
"The person jumped out of the car and had no clothes on so their first instinct was to run," said Rush.
It happened last Friday near these basketball courts on Westerly Drive. Police say it was around one o'clock in the afternoon. The girls told police the man ran toward them.
"It's surreal. It's a very quiet neighborhood. Nothing ever seems to happen here so it took watching my daughter being interviewed by the police for it to sink in," said Rush.
Medford Township Police say a woman reported a similar incident involving a man fitting the same description and car December 21st. The woman told police she was walking on Huntington Circle Drive when the man got out of the jeep wearing only tennis shoes.
Ed Parr says police went door to door in his Evesham neighborhood asking residents if they saw anything.
"It's unfortunate. Hopefully nothing serious will come of it but it was sort of nerve wracking," said Parr.
The suspect is described as having pale skin, heavy set and an excessive amount of body hair. He was driving a black jeep possibly with a white sticker on the left side of the rear window.
