Man shot and killed right outside his home in West Philadelphia: police

A man is dead after police say he was shot twice Tuesday night in West Philadelphia. 

Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 300 block of North Gross Street for reports of a shooting around 8:30 p.m.

A 37-year-old man was found lying on the sidewalk in front of his family home with gunshot wounds to the head and stomach.

Seven spent shell casings from a semi-automatic gun were also recovered from the scene.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

No arrests were reported immediately following the deadly shooting, and a motive is unknown.
