Police: Man dead, woman injured in suicide and attempted suicide

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WTXF) - Police say a man is dead and a woman was injured after a suicide and an attempted suicide inside the Tropicana in Atlantic City.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says its major crimes unit got a call from Atlantic City police at about 5:45 p.m. about a death under investigation.

Hotel staff discovered the deceased man and injured woman after the pair had overstayed their registered time in their room and staff went to check on them. Staff immediately contacted police.

The woman was taken to Atlanti-Care Regional Medical center in unknown condition and the man was pronounced dead.

"It's an active investigation. Our investigators are taking control of the scene, and they are investigating the scene and processing the scene at this point," said Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner.

Tyner added that the public shouldn't be concerned and what happened was contained to that one room.
