Police: Man shot and killed after answering knock at front door in South Philadelphia

Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed upon answering a knock at the door of his South Philadelphia home.

The incident happened around midnight on Sunday. Offices arrived to the 2000 block of Norwood Street to find 40-year-old Richard Jackson laying inside the doorway of his home.

Police say the victim was answering the door when he was shot once in the chest. The man was pronounced dead at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center a short time later

Authorities were investigating reports that the man may have been involved in a fight earlier in the day.

The shooter fled the scene and remained at large Monday.
