Police: Man shot in suspected road rage incident

Police say a suspected road rage incident resulted in a man being shot in the back in Crescentville Thursday night.

According to authorities, shortly after 8 p.m. deputies arrive to the 700 block of Foulkrod Road for reports of a person shot in the area.

Police say they found no victim on the scene, but they did encounter a 70-year-old man who alleges that he had just escaped from a road rage incident.

The man reportedly told officers that a 42-year-old man in a red SUV approached his vehicle and started kicking the passenger's side back door of his car. Police found a large, foot-sized dent on the man's vehicle.

The man then allegedly told police that he shot the 42-year-old aggressor in the back from inside his car. The bullet, the man says, shattered his passenger's side window.

According to police, the man said the gunshot victim drove off. Police say they found the man a half mile away at the corner of Adams Street and Cresetville Road.

The victim was transported to Einstein Medical Hospital where he is in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the gunman is cooperating with investigators as police sort out the incident.
