Police: Man shot, killed overnight in Fairhill

Philadelphia police are investigating after a man was murdered overnight in Fairhill. The suspect is still sought by authorities.

Police say the incident took place on the 200 block of East Westmoreland Street just before midnight.

Investigators say 51-year-old Rafael Vasquez was shot twice, once in the chest and once in the face. The victim was pronounced dead just after midnight after being transported to Temple University Hospital.

According to police, an unknown Hispanic man in his early fifties had walked up and shot the victim in the face. He then allegedly fled on foot. No arrests have been made at this time.
