Police: Officer shot dog to death after it bit woman, man

Police say an officer shot and killed a dog that attacked a man and a woman in South Philadelphia's Point Breeze neighborhood.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said police were called to the 1500 block of Dickinson Street at about 8pm Tuesday for reports of a pit bull that bit a woman.

The victim, 28, was bitten in both hands and taken to a hospital, where she's in stable condition.

Then, an officer saw the pit bull biting a 28-year-old man who was walking his own dog, and Small said the officer shot it once after the man unable to kick it away.

The man was bit on the finger and refused treatment.

It's not clear who owns the dog.
