Police: Snapchat post leads to arrest of Gibbsboro man for sex assault

Police say a Snapchat post got a man arrested in Camden County charged with sexual assault. According to police, a friend of the victim saw the snap and called 911.

24-year-old Mason Mallon is facing some serious charges. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office said today that authorities arrested him last Saturday at his grandparent's home in Gibbsboro and charged him with sex assault.

"It doesn't surprise me," said his neighbor Cathy Parsinitz.

Investigators say a girl called them after seeing Mallon's Snapchat post on social media. The girl says she saw her 18-year-old friend on Mallon's post and that she looked unconscious. Gibbsboro police went to the home on the 100 block of West Clementon Road where they found the victim in Mallon's bedroom disoriented, bruised and covered in blood.

"Mason has been in trouble before but his grandparents are totally good people. They're just overwhelmed," said Parsinitz.

FOX 29's Shawnette Wilson talked to Mallon's grandparents but they didn't want to speak on camera. They told us they didn't hear anything unusual coming from Mallon's bedroom the night this allegedly happened. His grandmother said that she heard Mallon tell investigators when he was being arrested that they were "just trying to become famous on Snapchat".

Mallon is due in court next Tuesday for a pretrial detention hearing. A judge will decide if he gets bail.

The victim was taken to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.
