Police: Unoccupied car explodes in New Castle, Del.

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WTXF) - Delaware fire officials are investigating following a motor vehicle explosion in New Castle, Del.

Around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, a car reportedly exploded on the 500 block of South Dupont Highway near the Pine Valley Apartment complex.

State fire investigators determined the incident occurred as a result of some type of device exploding near the vehicle.

Investigators say a suspicious package was found at the scene as well. New Castle Police concluded the package was not an explosive device but held onto it as evidence in the case.
