Police: Woman involved in SEPTA bus incident safe
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF/AP) -- Police say a woman claiming to be the woman involved in an alleged abduction overnight walked into a police station Friday morning.
The 22-year-old woman tells police she was not abducted, but police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Authorities were searching for the woman after police believed was abducted from a SEPTA bus overnight in Philadelphia.
Police say it all happened around 2:00 a.m. Friday in the city's Crescentville neighborhood.
Investigators say witnesses told them a suspect in a silver Pontiac sedan cut the bus off and smashed a window on it with his hand.
The bus driver attempted to maneuver the bus away from the suspect, but tells police the suspect caught up with him in a vehicle a few blocks later, and cut the bus off forcing it to stop.
Witnesses say the woman exited the bus when it came to a halt.
Police say the man started punching the woman in the head as she exited the bus and forced her into his car.
The car has been described as a dark silver Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix between the model year 2005-2006. The car had a temporary paper tag from Delaware.
Authorities say the victim and suspect may know each other.
