Prosecutor Says Bankruptcy Lawyer On The Lam

There's more trouble for a South Jersey bankruptcy attorney who was the focus of a FOX 29 Investigates report.

Phillip F. Drinkwater III is facing six counts of "theft by illegal retention." In short, the Gloucester County prosecutor says he took clients' money for bankruptcy work, but often didn't perform the services.

Now, he has more trouble. Drinkwater is on the lam, according to the county prosecutor.

His mug shot was posted by the county prosecutor on his Facebook page. Drinkwater is called a "wanted fugitive."

After being criminally charged, the Pitman, N.J., attorney was supposed to have a meeting with prosecutors. He never showed.

Now, Gloucester County's fugitive unit is looking for him, and posting his mug shot is part of that effort.

In May, FOX 29 Investigates spoke with his former clients who claimed they paid him but in many instances got nothing in return.

Back then, we found him living in the rolling hills for Schuylkill Haven, Pa.

Drinkwater faces jail time for the criminal charges. He says medical issues and a "major depressive event" forced him out of practice.

The local prosecutor says that when they do find Drinkwater he could be jailed without bail.
