Report: Amazon chooses Northern Virginia, NYC for new headquarters
WASHINGTON - Amazon has chosen Northern Virginia and New York City as the locations for the company's newest headquarters, according to a new report.
The announcement is expected to be made as soon as Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Other cities could also receive major sites, according to people familiar with the talks.
Amazon has reportedly been closing in on a deal for a split headquarters, with Crystal City in Virginia and Long Island City in New York emerging as the frontrunners during the yearlong search. The online retail giant, which is based in Seattle, narrowed its search to 20 cities vying for HQ2 at the beginning of the year.

The project is expected to bring 25,000 jobs to each of the locations.
The 20 finalists for HQ2 also included Washington D.C. and Montgomery County in Maryland.
The D.C. region was seen as a favorite to land the new headquarters, as many drew connections between founder and CEO Jeff Bezos and the nation's capital after he purchased the Washington Post and a mansion in D.C.'s prominent Kalorama neighborhood.
Amazon is also familiar with Northern Virginia with data centers in Ashburn, Sterling, Chantilly, Manassas and Haymarket.
Long Island City in Queens is one of the fastest-developing neighborhoods in New York City.
