Route 422 open again after crash killed 2, injured 1
WEST POTTSGROVE, Pa. (WTXF/AP) - Two passengers were killed and their driver injured in an overnight crash, and Route 422 was closed for several hours.
Police say it happened at about midnight in West Pottsgrove, Montgomery County.
The victims -- 20-year-old Marissa Kelly of Stroudsburg and 23-year-old Anthony Rodriguez of East Elmhurst, New York -- were passengers in a car heading east when it went through a guardrail, hit a tree and ended up down a steep embankment near the Schuylkill River.
Prosecutors said witnesses told them that the car was "racing another vehicle in excess of 100 mph."
Kelly and Rodriguez were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to a hospital.
Both sides of 422 were closed for hours.
