Running Car Stolen With Children Inside, Crashes Minutes Later

Police in New Jersey have arrested a man after they say he crashed a car he had stolen while two kids were still inside.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night in Magnolia, New Jersey.

According to police, a woman left her car running outside of a store on the 500 block of White Horse Pike with her two children inside, while she ran in to shop.

The children were between the ages of seven and eleven.

When the woman walked out of her store, her car was gone.

Police tracked the car down a short time later, after it crashed and flipped onto its roof in the front yard of a home on the 600 block of W. Merchant Street in Audobon.

Both children and the suspect were taken to the hospital for scrapes and bruises.

The suspect has been identified as Christopher Dumas of Paulsboro, New Jersey. He will be charged with kidnapping, endangering the welfare of children and vehicle theft.
