Schools set to reopen Tuesday in Monroe Township after mold discovery

Monroe Township, NJ (WTXF) - Schools are set to reopen Tuesday in Monroe Township after mold concerns shutdown some schools, but parents are still concerned.

Jennifer Whitten says she's had enough of the mold problem at Holly Glen Elementary where her son goes and tells FOX 29 it has impacted his health.

"I know he's been sick for the past four years going to that school and a good portion of the pictures that were shown with mold. He was in those classrooms," she said. "Asthma, he's had to do nebulizer treatments, allergy medications and as soon. As he started this year he's been nothing but sick."

She was among dozens of parents filing into the Williamstown High School theater to blow off steam in a meeting run by parents even though the Monroe Township School District says most schools will reopen for students Tuesday following a district-wide precautionary shutdown for most of this week after the mold was found.

"At this point, I kind of want some justice. I want them to own up to what happened. If something happened then let me know that happened," Whittensaid.

Come Tuesday students who go to Holly Glenn and Whitehall Elementary schools will be taught in other buildings while crews continue to work toward acceptable air quality for students and staff.
