Senior dog found after being abandoned on the side of the road

Advocates are furious after an elderly dog was dumped on the side of the road in a Gwinnett County neighborhood.

Neighbors in Gwinnett County made the surprising find, and when they looked at surveillance video, they discovered the dog being there was no accident.

The footage shows an SUV slow down, with someone inside ditching the dog and leaving.

The pet, a 12-year-old Maltese named Dove by animal rescue volunteers is now at a place specifically designed for older, special needs dogs.

Her caretakers say Dove can't see or here.

Now advocates want police to track down the person who would just leave the animal on the street.

"There was no reason for this. She's not only a senior. She's five pounds, neurologically challenged, she's blind and deaf, and it's the middle of winter," Releash Atlanta's Kristin Sarkar said. "There's no way this little dog was going to survive on her own. They gave her no shot."

Releash Atlanta is working with Frankie and Andy's Rescue, a hospice organization, to give Dove a place to live out her days.

They're also hoping someone recognizes her or the car caught on camera, which is described as a 2010 to 2016 Kia.
