SEPTA adding service after July 4 festivities

A long holiday weekend means a change of plans for many. Add thousands of tourists to that, and you can have a traffic nightmare.

On Monday, July 4, SEPTA says all Regional Rail, bus, trolley, Market-Frankford and Broad Street Line Service will operate on a Sunday schedule, plus there will be additional late-night service to accommodate holiday revelers from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Click here for a complete list of Welcome America events.

These are the details:

Market-Frankford Line: Eight extra trains will provide service every five-to-seven minutes. They will run until 12:30am. Then, Market-Frankford Line Night Owl buses will replace trains. SEPTA's 15th Street Station is the place to go for access to and from the Parkway festivities.

Broad Street Line: Eight extra trains will provide service every five-to-seven minutes. These service levels will remain in effect until 12:30am, when Night Owl bus service will replace trains. Several Broad Street Line stations are within walking distance of the event, including Spring Garden, Race-Vine and City Hall.

Regional Rail: SEPTA will extend its Regional Rail service for customers leaving Center City after the fireworks. A total of 19 trains will depart Suburban Station between 10:45pm and 12:35am. Trains will make all local stops. Click here for an Independence Day Late Night Service Schedule.

Trolleys: Additional trips will be added on Routes 10, 11, 13, 34 and 36 after the fireworks as needed. Remember, the Route 10 is using buses in place of trolleys due to construction.

Buses: Riders should be on alert regarding detours due to road closures. Click here for details about bus detours and also any unexpected service adjustments.
