Shelter highlights rescue pup's amazing transformation

One animal shelter is showing how love and compassion can transform an animal's life.

Southern Cross Animal Rescue (SCAR), based in Laurel, Ms., shared the story of one such transformation.

When Phoenix was rescued in 2016, he had no fur and a terrible flea infestation. After recovering and spending time in a foster home, he was adopted by his 'forever family' that November. The pup's new owner shared Phoenix's Christmas photos with the animal rescue.

"He is very spoiled!! Can't imagine our life without him," his owner told SCAR.

The rescue says his mom, Lyn, calls Phoenix a "momma's boy" who loves to ride and "does a happy dance when it's time to go to the groomer to get pampered."

Southern Cross Animal Rescue is a no-kill animal rescue focused that seeks to impact pet overpopulation experienced in the south through animal rescue, public education, community outreach, foster networks and transportation programs
