Shooting Suspect Archer Was Due in Court Monday

This is 30 year old Edward Archer's mug shot taken after police arrested him for the alleged shooting of Philadelphia Officer Jessie Hartnett late Thursday night.

It's not Archer's first brush with the law, but it certainly is his most serious.

"He just came out of nowhere and started firing. He just started moving towards that patrol car. I don't know when Hartness first saw him," Commissoner Richard Ross said.

Court records show, Archer was to face a judge Monday in Media at 9:30 AM for sentencing in a multi-count Delaware County case for charges including forgery, fraud and driving while suspended.

Archer--linked to addresses in Yeadon, Delaware County. and Philadelphia --came to the attention of law enforcement in Philadelphia, when he's charged with a number of serious crimes allegedly committed early in 2012.

They include carrying a firearm without a license, aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.

In March of 2015, he plead guilty to carrying that firearm without a license and given a maximum of 23 months in jail.

But Archer is paroled not jailed, because he was given credit for time he'd already spent behind bars.

He also plead to simple assault and gets probation.

Police ran into Edward Archer again. Last night, they claim, gun in hand trying trying to end the life of a cop.
