Sixers Ben Simmons surprises local families with $1,000 shopping spree

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - The Philadelphia 76ers performance on the court this year has been a welcome surprise this year, but what rookie Ben Simmons did off the court Thursday really made a group of young fans happy.

Simmons took four local families on a $1,000-dollar holiday shopping spree at Target.

The event was part of the team's annual season of giving.

Simmons gave each family a $1,000 to spend on things like Stars Wars games, NERF guns, and even a Play Station 4!

The Sixers will look to keep their fans smiling against the Oklahoma City Thunder Friday night.
