South Philadelphia residents take a stand after brawl

Young people brawling outside Sharswood School at 2nd and Ritner Streets Sunday afternoon was caught on surveillance video that's now being circulated everywhere. Now, South Philadelphia residents are taking a stand.

"We live in the best neighborhood and it's being destroyed by outsiders."

Kerrie Brennan says neighbors have been joining her in monitoring their street while demanding more cops on patrol after other cases of harassment and trouble.

"My elderly neighbors are afraid to come out not just at night, during the day. My children won't go to the corner store. They're terrorizing our community," she told FOX 29.

"I was like, 'how could this possibly happen to me?" That was Anthony Massaro's reaction while trying to figure out who smashed out the back window of his car. He obtained the fight video from a nearby business believing someone involved in the melee also damaged his car.

"The first thing that was going through my mind was like, he broke the window and no one even like stopped to like say, 'Oh my God. What did we just do?' he said. "They just carried on with their day. And like this was not out of the ordinary for them."

Police tell FOX 29 they are working right along with neighbors in a town watch effort that just formed.
