Suspect charged in attack on SEPTA police officer

The man captured on video attacking a SEPTA police officer in Philadelphia has reportedly turned himself in.

Officials charged 39-year-old Sorrel Groves with aggravated assault on Wednesday.

Monday, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority police responded to a report of a man trespassing on the tracks at the Angora regional rail station in Southwest Philadelphia.

Police body camera video showed Sgt. Lynn Perrone walking over to help a fellow officer but then the man darted out, shoved her to the ground using both hands, and ran off. Investigators say the sergeant suffered head, neck and back injuries. Perrone has since been released from a hospital.

The sergeant's body camera captured the entire cowardly attack. Seconds later, bystanders show up to check on the officer as her camera points to the sky.

Groves is in custody and it's not clear whether he has an attorney.
