Suspect leads police on chase from expressway to river

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - An early morning police chase went from the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) to the Schuylkill River.

It ended at the University Avenue onramp and there is police activity going on there.

FOX 29's Bob Kelly reports police were chasing a suspect eastbound on the highway. That's when the driver stopped, got out of his car, jumped over the concrete barrier in the middle of the highway, across traffic and into the chilly river.

It's not known yet what the suspect was wanted for, or whether he was caught.
