Suspect sought in armed robbery at Rhawnhurst Rite Aid

Philadelphia police have released surveillance footage of an armed robbery that occurred inside a Rite Aid store in Rhawnhurst last week.

The incident occurred at the Rite Aid on the 8100 block of Roosevelt Boulevard on Jan. 24, 2019 around 8:55 p.m.

Police say the suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and pointed it at a 17-year-old girl who was working behind the counter.

When the employee saw the suspect pointing the gun at her, she immediately opened the register and backed away from the counter.

The suspect then removed an unknown amount of cash from the drawer and was last seen fleeing west on Solly Avenue, according to police.

Investigators have described the suspect as a light skin male, standing between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall.

Anyone with information about the suspect or incident is asked to contact police.
