Suspect sought in armed robbery of Rhawnhurst Chinese restaurant

Philadelphia police are attempting to identify and locate a man they say held up a Rhawnhurst Chinese restaurant at gunpoint.

The incident occurred back on March 20 around 9:30 p.m. when officers were called to the 8000 block of Bustleton Avenue for a robbery in progress.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke with restaurant employees who told them an unknown suspect jumped the counter wielding a gun, and demanded money from the register.

The suspect grabbed the money from the register when employees say the suspect then asked, "Where's the other money?"

Police say the employees told the suspect they had no more money, and the suspect then pistol-whipped an employee in the head, causing a cut.

The suspect was last seen heading south on Bustleton Avenue towards Rhawn Street.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is asked to contact 215.686.TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847.
