Suspected home invader caught after overnight crime spree

A frightening ordeal for a couple in their 50s when a home invader broke in overnight, and the husband ended up shot. Now, police say they've arrested the man responsible for those crimes and more.

The home invasion happened in Rhawnhurst. Police say a gunman forced his way into the couple's home in the 2000 block of Oakmont Street just after 11pm Wednesday.

There, they say he pistol-whipped the husband and fired a gun into the floor. The husband had to be taken to the hospital for wounds to his head, and is in stable condition. The wife was not physically hurt.

Then, the gunman took off down the street and police say he robbed a 28-year-old woman of her purse at gunpoint.

Police caught up with and arrested the suspect in both crimes, and say all three victims identified him.

Detectives say he'll be charged in both cases.
