Teen Charged After Baby Is Found in College Campus Dumpster
(INSIDE EDITION) A South Carolina teen has been charged after cops say her newborn baby was found alive in a college campus dumpster.
Officials in Orangeburg said a crying baby boy was discovered on the Claflin University campus Wednesday morning while workers were taking out garbage.
George Johnson, the Assistant Vice President for Communications and Marketing at Claflin, told WLTX that the baby was taken to an area hospital in Orangeburg, where he remained late in the evening.
The boy was reportedly found in a trash bag.
Meanwhile. the Department of Public Safety confirmed the arrest of the mother, 19-year-old Amber Brianna Fulton.
Police reportedly said Fulton, a student at Claflin, admitted in writing to giving birth to the full-term 5 pound, 7-ounce boy and placing him into the Dumpster.
Fulton, a student at Claflin, was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child and attempted murder.
The boy is said to be doing well.
