Teen hit by stray bullet in Hunting Park

A 13-year-old boy is in stable condition after he was hit by a stray bullet in Hunting Park.

Police say it happened at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday along the 4300 block of N. Darien Street.

Kiyon Griffin told police he was playing outside when a white four-door vehicle traveling southbound stopped at the intersection with Bristol Street.

That's when a man got out from the passenger side and began firing a handgun multiple times northbound, striking the boy in his left leg and right arm.

He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Before the shooting, police say another man reported he'd exchanged words with a woman driving a newer-model white vehicle heading southbound on that block after she almost struck him.

Then, she returned with the gunman who fired eight times into the group of people.

He is described as 5'9" tall, heavy set, with a dark complexion and stick beard, wearing a white t-shirt.

The woman is described as 24-29 years old with a light complexion and long hair.

No arrests have been made. Police say there were surveillance cameras at the intersection where the car pulled up so they are reviewing that to see if they can get a better look at the gunman and the woman driver.
