Trash can of puppies dumped outside animal shelter in Riverside County
SAN JACINTO, Calif. (FOX 11) - Animal control officers are searching for the individual who allegedly dumped a garbage can full of puppies outside a Riverside County animal shelter.
The Ramona Humane Society, located in San Jacinto, posted on Wednesday that despite the fact that the shelter was open for business, someone "dumped a garbage can full of puppies in our outer parking lot and sped off."
The humane society believes that the individual who dumped the puppies was driving a green truck, according to the Facebook post.
The garbage can contained eight "pit bull type" puppies, according to the shelter.
"Without knowing if the puppies belonged to the abandoner, we will need to hold them to see if an owner comes forward," the non-profit said in the post.
The shelter said that the puppies will be available for adoption on Sunday, March 3.
