Trial date set for NJ father accused in son's death

HADDON TWP. NJ (WTXF) - A New Jersey father will head to trial this January after he was charged in the death of his three-year-old son.

Prosecutors announced murder charges against David "D.J." Creato this January, after his son was found dead on October 13 th , 2015.

Creato is charged with first-degree murder and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

A trial date has been set for January 9 th , 2017.

Police say Brendan Creato, 3, was initially reported missing from his father's Haddon Township home, and his body was found in a nearby wooded area hours later.

A two-page criminal complaint does not list a cause of death but does say that the elder Creato "did knowingly cause the death or serious bodily injury resulting in the death of [the child.]
