Tropical depression off Mexico could become a hurricane, NHC says

The National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical depression that formed off the Mexican coast and is expected to strengthen, potentially into a hurricane. 

Why you should care:

As of Tuesday, the system was about 560 miles south of the southern tip of Baja California, in the Pacific Ocean, the NHC reported.

The agency stated that the tropical depression was carrying maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and was moving west at 18 mph.

The tropical depression could become a hurricane by Thursday night, meteorologists predict.
