TSA stops Chester County woman at PHL with handgun in carry-on

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - TSA officers stopped a Chester County woman at an airport checkpoint after detecting a handgun in the woman's carry-on luggage at the Philadelphia International Airport Saturday.

The West Chester resident told officials she did not realize she had the gun with her. The handgun, a .38 caliber, referred to as a ".38 Special," was unloaded.

Philadelphia Police responded after they were contacted by TSA. They confiscated the gun and detained the woman for questioning. She was cited for weapons violations.

TSA reports this is the 23rd time in 2018 they have recovered a gun at an airport checkpoint. They recovered guns 37 times in 2017.
