Two officers hurt in crash with fleeing suspect
OLNEY (WTXF) - Two Philadelphia Police officers are recovering after they suffered injuries in crash with a fleeing suspect Tuesday night.
The incident occurred near 21 st and Conlyn Streets in the city's Olney neighborhood around 10:00 p.m.
Police say the suspect was stopped by another officer for a traffic violation. During the stop, the officers took the driver's keys, but he was able to start the car and flee without them.
While the suspect was fleeing, he collided with a patrol car that was passing through the neighborhood.
The 31-year-old male suspect managed to flee, but was caught a short time later.
The officer who was driving suffered broken ribs, while the passenger was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken leg. Both were taken to Einstein Medical Center in unknown condition.
The suspect was taken to Temple University for evaluation. He is facing a number of charges including fleeing police, aggravated assault, and driving with a suspended license.
