Valley Forge National Park to conduct prescribed burn

Valley Forge National Historical Park will be conducting a controlled burn over 150 acres of the park this week.

The prescribed burns are expected to take place on Wednesday, April 11 and Thursday, April 12 in the area of Route 23 and Gulph road.

The burn will cause temporary road and trail closures.

The park says the goal of the burn is to reduce invasive plant species in park meadows that are critical habitats for birds and mammals.

The park last conducted a successful burn in October 2014.
