Vandals target cars at local body shop

PHILADELPHIA, PA (WTXF) - Smashed glass busted windshields and some angry car owners. You could find all of those at a local body shop this morning. Police say vandals hit nearly two dozen cars.
Now authorities are working hard to find them.

Fox 29's Jennifer Joyce is reported in Bustleton thursday with the story.
21 cars at a Maaco's Body Shop on Bustleton Avenue fell victim to vandals overnight.

"It looks like they walked along each car struck their foot through every windshield,"
David DeMarco, co-owner of Maaco's told FOX 29. "

Shattered glass and footprints left behind.

"The footprint on the one is an air Jordan footprint," David said.

The Demarco brothers, Dave and Angelo own the shop, they noticed the damage this morning and called police.

"In the future we're gonna increase patrol in the area - also back here its kind of dark," Philadelphia Police Captain Michael Gormley said

The shop has an extensive surveillance system, but for some reason, last night's mischief makers evaded the motion sensor and the cameras never clicked on. The next time the cameras detected motion was around 12-30 this morning that's when the vandalism is unveiled.

The Demarcos and neighboring business owner Arthur gull say teenage vandals have been a problem on their properties throughout the last year - costing both businesses a lot of money and major headaches.

"Enough is enough. We have a police station down the block and it's happening right under their eyes," Arthur Gull of Extreme Auto Collision said.
