Victim of SEPTA Attack Describes Terrifying Ordeal

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Police say a SEPTA rider waiting for the train was pushed onto the tracks. She described the terrifying ordeal to FOX 29.

"Probably one of the scariest things that happened because it was so random. There was no reason behind it," the victim told FOX 29.

27-year-old Lauren Litchman, of Fishtown, described how she was attacked out of nowhere Sunday morning, allegedly shoved off the platform at 40th and Market. She fell onto the train tracks below.

Lauren said as she looked up from the tracks her alleged attacker was glaring down at her.

"The guy was standing on the edge. He was gripping a kitchen knife in his right hand, like aggressively," Lauran explained. "The only audible word I heard was kill, kill so I just ran the other away toward the center of the tracks where more passengers were waiting."

Despite being injured Lauren somehow managed to pull herself to safety. She quickly called 911 and is thankful to be alive.

SEPTA video surveillance caught the attack on camera. Alert SEPTA officers forwarded a description of 34-year-old Kenneth Grimes to officers down the line. The victim also gave police a precise description of her alleged attacker. Moments later, Grimes was spotted by police getting off a train at 30th street station. He still had the knife, according to police.

"As they confront the male he became pretty violent. He was spitting on officers. He did advise them he had a knife on him, they brought him under control," said Lt. Walker.

Laura is recovering from a broken collarbone.
