VIDEO: Suspect robs woman at gunpoint in front of her young child riding bicycle

Police are searching for two suspects connected to an armed robbery of a woman that took place in front of her young child in Northeast D.C.

Police say it happened at around 12:25 p.m. on Sept. 24 in the 1200 block of Wylie Street.

According to the police report, the female victim was walking on the sidewalk on Wylie Street with her child riding on a bicycle nearby when a suspect approached her and said, "Give that money." After the victim replied, "What money?" the suspect pointed at her purse and pulled up his shirt to pull out his gun tucked in his waistband.

The victim reported that she gave the purse to the suspect and was then told to turn around and walk away. The suspect then fled from the scene with the purse.

On Thursday, D.C. police released surveillance video of the armed robbery which also showed a black sedan seen on the street driven by another person of interest during the theft.

Several neighbors have cameras mounted outside their homes and the people who recorded the incident told FOX 5 they were happy to help police.

Anthony Green, who lives a few homes down from where the robbery happened, said this type of crime in the area needs to stop.

"We have been talking to Councilman [Charles] Allen about it and the commander of this police district, and they have been very responsive I have to tell you," he said. "The one thing I would really like to see is the police officers on bicycles who patrol up H Street to go on the back streets and to be riding around and have that kind of vigilance."
