WATCH: Trooper buys meal for man down on his luck

New Jersey State Police shared a video on their Facebook page showing one of their troopers going above and beyond for a man in need.

According to NJ State Police, on Saturday, October 1 around 9:30 p.m., Trooper Sean Wallace was dispatched to a food store in Hainesport Township for a suspicious person complaint. When he arrived, he talked with the manager who told him that a man was soliciting his customers for money in front of his store. Police say the manager explained to the trooper that he had already told the man to leave the property earlier in the day.

When Trooper Wallace heard the man's story he went beyond the call of duty to help out the man and his wife who were down on their luck. The video shows Trooper Wallace buying them a rotisserie chicken.

"Trooper Sean Wallace has less than two years on the job, but he handled this situation like a 20-year veteran with a heart of gold," NJ State Police said. "We couldn't be prouder of this young trooper! Some things you just can't teach in the academy."
